Ranch Dressing

Have you ever been to a restaurant and ordered a salad with ranch dressing? And the ranch dressing was so good that you seriously thought about drinking it? Well, this is that ranch. I have always disliked store bought ranch, so I was on a mission to make the best at home ranch dressing that I could. Seriously, one day I had 6 different bowls of different ranches, just trying to perfect it. I am pretty sure I have, but your tastebuds can be the judge.

When I was doing my research on how to create the perfect ranch, I saw a lot of recipes call for dill. I HATE dill, so it came to no surprise to me that 3 out of my 6 ranches that I talked about above, were just awful. However, this ranch honestly made me jump up and down with happiness!

Two things that are very IMPORTANT for the making of this ranch:

Now, you will only need about 1 1/2 tsp. of this, but the BUTTERMILK RECIPE of Hidden Valley seasoning mix makes this dressing so much better.

The second very important ingredient is HELLMANN'S. I wasted so many attempts trying to make this dressing with Miracle Whip. Now nothing against Miracle Whip, but Hellmann's is where it's at.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 1 1/2 tsp. buttermilk ranch seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp. garlic salt

  • 1/4 tsp. paprika

  • 1/8 tsp. chili powder

  • A few turns of fresh ground pepper (a pinch of pepper)

** Depending if you want your dressing thicker, use a bit more mayonnaise. If you want it a little thinner, use a bit more buttermilk.

Directions:

  1. Combine wet ingredients first - mayonnaise and buttermilk.

  2. Then add the rest of the spices.

  3. Whisk together, until all ingredients are combined well.

  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving.

** I keep this in my fridge until the sell by date of the buttermilk, but trust me, it will be gone WAY before that.
